Gyroscope was founded by Bevan McWilliam & Wynter Blathwayt, who recognised a need for affordable marketing solutions for small high tech businesses with a complicated offering. They identified that many life science businesses could have a better communication strategy if it was guided by people with experience and expertise in the field.
The founders of Gyroscope balance their extensive experience in both the graphic design industry and the business of science.
Wynter Blathwayt has worked as a graphic designer for over twenty years, running his own studio for over half that time. In that time he has worked on an immense variety of projects and activities, including advertising, magazines, posters, product packaging, corporate communications and a prodigious number of films, he even has his own IMDB entry. This experience allows Wynter to know how best to use his design aesthetic and his practical mind-set to create rational and beautiful communications.
Bevan McWilliam has an unusual combination of business and science communication skills. His interest in entrepreneurship has manifested as the commercialising of scientific intellectual property through licensing deals and the development of spin-out companies. He has worked technology transfer roles around the world, including the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), the National Physical Laboratory, the University of Surrey, the Royal Veterinary College and the London Bioscience Innovation Centre. Bevan holds a BSc in microbiology and an MBA in Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
